After the success I had with my new upcycled napkin bowl, I went back to the same antique shop and found this not so pretty thing (and these awesome little bottles):
I have a secretary desk in my living room that has a mantle on top. I've never quite known what to put on it. I knew I wanted to paint this pedestal bowl just like my other one, but needed something to put in it. So I found this little bottle collection and fell in love with them. They are old, all different shapes and sizes and look cool in a little grouping. I'll likely buy a few more bottles, until the bowl is filled. Here's the pretty version:
In it's new home:
I painted it just like this one:

I didn't prime the napkin bowl and it turned out just fine. I followed the same steps on the bottle bowl and the paint sanded off very easily... a little too easily. I scrapped some off on accident with my finger nail, fortunately it was on the bottom of the bowl. I think I'll give priming a shot next time around.
I don't think I have a future as an interior decorator but I sure do love looking at my new little bottle collection! What do you think?

ReplyDeleteSo that's what the square one is! I have one that I found in Goodwill and painted Heirloom White. I thought it was a square fruit bowl but seeing your napkins in it, now it makes sense! : ) I love the larger one you found, too. Mine holds faux pomegranates on my kitchen table.
