Cassi's Cabinets

I am interrupting my normal blogging schedule to share with you a very special project that is in need of your help! (I'm trying to sound very official, is it working??) 


Last week a friend of mine posted about Cassi's Cabinets on Facebook. I clicked on the link and as soon as I read about this project I knew I had to find a way to help! Who can say no to a group of young adults who are spending their summer finding a way to give back to their community?? When I was their age I was driving my little 1980's Honda Accord all over town, paging boys (yes, I had a pager back in the day) and tipping cows. (Disclaimer, I never physically tipped a cow myself but I might have been in the presence of those that did a time or two.)


Here is a little info about Cassi's Cabinets: 


Cassi's Cabinets is a service project to stock the pantry shelves of the Family Kitchens at Janet Weis Childrens Hospital at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. The Project was started in honor of Cassi Choplick, a rising senior at Lewisburg High School who is undergoing treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. When children are hospitalized at GMC, their families have access to Family Kitchens, but these kitchens are stocked through donation only, and currently the pantry shelves are low. 


The type of food that is needed is single serve, easy access foods that can be eaten on the go (and/or put in the microwave), such as granola bars, popcorn, snack sized chips, sandwich crackers, soup (microwaveable- not in a can), mac & cheese (single serving, in a bowl), breakfast bars, fruit cups, etc. Cassi's Cabinets Service Project is taking place during the month of July in downtown Lewisburg, PA and surrounding areas, and the first donation boxes are currently in place at the following locations:

Many of my readers are not from the area, but if you are and can in any way make a donation I know it will be very much appreciated! To help make your pennies stretch as far as possible for the most donation bang for your buck, I've put together a list of needed items that are on sale at local stores. You'll also find a few coupon match-ups (and even some printable coupons) so you can buy more for less! You don't have to write a huge check to give back (though I'm sure they would gladly accept that as well).
